Apple Foundation Models 3

The five models
| Model | Where it runs | What Apple says |
|---|---|---|
| AFM 3 Core | On the device | 3 billion parameters, dense |
| AFM 3 Core Advanced | On the device | 20 billion parameters, 1 to 4 billion active per request, multimodal |
| AFM 3 Cloud | Private Cloud Compute | Server workhorse |
| ADM 3 Cloud (Image) | Private Cloud Compute | Image creation and editing |
| AFM 3 Cloud Pro | Private Cloud Compute, on Nvidia GPUs in Google Cloud | Most capable; agentic tool use and complex reasoning |
Private Cloud Compute is Apple's server system that, Apple says, never stores or shares user data, including with Apple. Dense means every parameter runs for every request.
Training
Apple says pre-training ran on the latest Google Cloud TPU accelerators, and that it does not train on users' private personal data or interactions. Apple compares against its own 2025 models with human graders and has not published standard benchmark scores in this post.
