Meta nuclear package
On 9 January 2026 Meta announced deals with three nuclear companies, Vistra, TerraPower, and Oklo, that support up to 6.6 GW of new and existing clean energy by 2035 (Meta, 9 Jan 2026). The power goes into the grids that serve Meta's data centers, including Prometheus in Ohio.
The three deals
| Partner | What it is | Size | When |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vistra | 20-year purchases from Perry and Davis-Besse (Ohio), plus uprates there and at Beaver Valley (Pennsylvania) | More than 2.1 GW bought; 433 MW of uprates | Uprates early 2030s |
| TerraPower | Two new Natrium reactors, with rights to six more | 690 MW for the first two; 2.8 GW for all eight, plus 1.2 GW of built-in storage | As early as 2032; the rest by 2035 |
| Oklo | New Aurora reactors in Pike County, Ohio | Up to 1.2 GW | As early as 2030 |
A GW is a billion watts and an MW a million. An uprate is an upgrade that lets an existing reactor make more power. Natrium is TerraPower's reactor design with built-in heat storage. PJM is the grid operator for much of the eastern US, including Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Meta counts these with an earlier Constellation deal for a plant in Clinton, Illinois. The figures are Meta's own and are plans, not power delivered today.
