Prometheus
Prometheus is Meta's AI cluster at its New Albany data center in Ohio, Meta's first in the state. Meta says the site delivers over 1 GW of compute capacity to house Prometheus (Meta, New Albany fact sheet, Sep 2026).
Key figures
| Figure | New Albany data center |
|---|---|
| Compute capacity | Over 1 GW |
| Investment | $1.5 billion+ |
| Ground broken | 2017 |
| Jobs once running | 300+ |
| Trade workers at peak | 1,200 |
A gigawatt (GW) is a billion watts, about the output of one large power plant; a megawatt (MW) is a thousandth of that. Data centers are sized by the power they can draw.
Power
Meta says it worked with AEP (American Electric Power) to pay the full cost of the site's energy, and supports five Ohio projects adding 847 MW of new clean and renewable energy. Meta's January 2026 nuclear deals deliver power to the grids that serve Prometheus (Meta, 9 Jan 2026); see Meta nuclear package.
What is not public
Meta's fact sheet does not give a chip count or chip type for Prometheus.
