What xAI has running
SpaceX, which bought xAI in February 2026, told investors on 12 June 2026 that Colossus and Colossus II together provide about 1 gigawatt of compute power, with more power capacity available. A gigawatt is a billion watts. The filing says the first Colossus cluster came online in 122 days, and the first Colossus II cluster in 91 days.
Colossus is the flagship site on Paul R. Lowry Road in Memphis. Colossus II is data centers in Memphis and in Southaven, Mississippi. On 6 May 2026 the company said Colossus 1 had over 220,000 Nvidia graphics chips, including H100, H200, and GB200. On 6 January 2026 it said Colossus I and II ended 2025 above one million H100-equivalents. The Colossus page, fetched 13 September 2026, lists 170 PB/s aggregate memory bandwidth, 2.8 Tb/s per-server network, and 0.5 EB of storage.
On 30 July 2026 the company said 69 temporary gas turbines were powering the Southaven site at 2875 Stanton Road, and that a 1.2 gigawatt plant of 41 permanent turbines was under construction. A Mississippi order the same day confirms the 69 turbines and a permit from 11 March 2026 to build the 41.
On 24 August 2026 Nvidia said it will put Vera processors and Vera Rubin chips into this build, including a planned Starmind satellite. Terafab is a separate chip factory planned by SpaceX and Tesla. Phase 1 is $16.8B.
