Eagle Mountain
Eagle Mountain is Meta's data center in Utah, where Meta broke ground in 2018. On 14 September 2026 Meta said it is expanding the site and raising its Utah investment to more than $3 billion (Meta, 14 Sep 2026).
Key figures
| Figure | Eagle Mountain data center |
|---|---|
| Investment in Utah | More than $3 billion |
| Ground broken | 2018 |
| Construction workers at peak | More than 1,200 |
| Jobs once complete | More than 300 |
| Clean energy added in Utah | More than 1.7 GW, plus 600 MWh of batteries |
MWh, megawatt-hours, measures stored energy: a battery that can deliver one megawatt for one hour.
Cooling
Meta says the new buildings use a closed-loop liquid cooling system with dry cooling, so the cooling system uses no water once running. Closed loop means the same liquid circulates again and again; dry cooling means fans, not evaporating water, carry the heat away. See Cooling.
What is not public
Meta has not given a power capacity in megawatts or a chip count for Eagle Mountain in this post.
